Concierge service launch

At Nordia, people are at the heart of our priorities, and we aim to provide the best possible work experience. This starts with an outstanding and personalized recruitment process.

That's why we are proud to officially launch our Concierge service - our latest innovation in terms of recruitment and onboarding!

What is the Concierge service? A new team dedicated to the candidate's experience at every stage of the hiring process. With the support of the Concierge service specialists, our future employees will have the chance to experience a unique recruitment and onboarding process focused on people and adapted to a virtual environment. Our concierges will be available anytime to answer candidates' questions or concerns, making the experience more straightforward and friendly than ever.

We know that job changes can be stressful. Not at Nordia! This creative initiative is another example of Nordia's focus on our key asset: our people. Thank you to everyone who collaborated in the launch of this new VIP service for candidates.

Grands Prix du Design: Nordia's design awarded

Congratulations!

Last week, the interior design firm Folio, which is behind the interior design of many of our centres' spaces, won the Bronze Award at the 14th edition of the Grands Prix du Design for their project for Nordia. This prestigious award is dedicated to celebrating the work of designers while offering them professional recognition and international exposure.

The product of their creativity can be seen, along with the Nordia internal branding designs created by Hill-Kimberley Design, in our Laval, Moncton, Montreal (8th floor), Toronto, and Waterloo centres. Thanks to Folio for supporting us in these great projects and for allowing us to realize our vision: to offer a renewed, inviting, and modern workplace to our employees.

Canadian HR Awards: Nordia nominated as a finalist in two categories

It is with great pride that we announce that Nordia has been nominated as a finalist in two categories for the 8th Annual Canadian HR Awards, namely for Best Remote Work Strategy and Most Effective Recruitment Strategy. These two awards showcase the outstanding leadership and results Nordia has demonstrated over the past year.

Best Remote Work Strategy

This award highlights the incredible mobilization undertaken by Nordia at the beginning of the pandemic to shift 80% of its workforce, or nearly 3,000 front-line service representatives, towards working from home in just six weeks. This number quickly increased to 90% where it stands today. As a result, Nordia was able to protect its employees and their jobs, and provide essential services to its customers as well as all Canadians across the country.

Recruitment Strategy

With the wide range of career opportunities available at Nordia and the sheer amount of employees hired throughout the year, it's critical that our recruitment model evolves over time to be as optimal as possible. Our expertise as a leader in our industry, coupled with our new recruitment platform, has allowed us to attract and process a record amount of 75,000 applications for the year 2020! On average, candidates are contacted within 24 hours of applying, and the hiring process is completed in less than 3 days. In addition to increased automation and simplification, we are able to manage the recruitment process 100% virtually, in conjunction with our new business model.

Presented by HRD Canada and the Canadian HR Reporter magazine, the Canadian HR Awards is the leading independent awards event for the human resources profession in Canada. These awards recognize HR teams, individuals, and employers for outstanding achievements, leadership, programs, and initiatives in the HR field over the past 12 months.

The award winners will be announced in September, but we are already proud to be named a finalist. This is an honor and a distinction shared by few companies and a reflection of all the hard work and effort provided by the operational and support teams at Nordia. We want to thank the Nordia family for their passion and dedication to making us the best place to work.

Privileged to serve...

The pandemic has challenged everyone in ways we could never have imagined. It has affected almost every aspect of our lives for more than a year now and the going has been rough for many.

At Nordia, our company and our employees have been more fortunate than most. We have been privileged to be able to serve Canadians throughout the pandemic as an essential service provider for Bell Canada and Canada Post. We have helped Canadians stay safely connected and have supported the increased demand for delivery services. While many employers and employees in Canada have struggled during this period, with loss of business and layoffs, we have been able to maintain quality jobs and even grow our workforce.

Protecting health and livelihood

We recognized early on that if we were going to be able to play a positive role in helping Canadians, the first and most important step to take was to protect the health and safety of our employees. The cornerstone of these efforts was the rapid deployment of our work-at-home initiative launched last year. Within a mere six weeks after the pandemic struck, we had already deployed 80% of our workforce – including almost 3,000 frontline service representatives – to work from home. That number quickly grew to 90%, where it stands today.

In March 2021, we once again had an opportunity to expand our role by supporting vaccination campaign rollouts by health authorities in Ontario and Quebec. The challenge was daunting: start providing telephone support services within days of the requests and then grow our capacity exponentially in the course in only a few weeks.

Stepping up once again

So we launched a vast recruitment effort across Nordia and in each of the markets where we operate, leveraging our social media and recruitment channels as well as mobilizing our 5,000 employees to spread the message to their friends, family and others who might be willing to step up and help out.

The response was phenomenal. In less than three weeks, we had already received 15,000 applications and that number eventually grew to 19,000 before we paused the campaign. By March 24, we had already hired and trained over 800 service representatives and met all our client requirements.

I am extremely proud of how fast the Nordia team was able to mobilize and humbled by the outpouring of interest and support to join the fight against COVID-19.

Helping people is in our DNA

As Canada’s largest provider of customer service solutions, helping people has always been in Nordia’s DNA. With this pandemic, even though we are playing but a small role, it is especially gratifying to be able to participate in the solution and equally so, to see the enthusiasm and pride of everyone involved in this vast effort!

Recap of Nordia's Wellness Week

From April 5-9, the first edition of the Wellness Week was held at Nordia. Despite the ups and downs of the past year, Nordia employees reacted and took concrete actions to improve their quality of life by participating in various organized activities.

At the heart of this thematic week: the #NordiaMoves challenge. This challenge allowed some thirty employees from coast to coast to coast to move for at least 30 minutes a day for five days and interact and get to know their colleagues.

Congratulations to all of you for this great determination. See you next year!

Thank you 5,545 times!

The #NordiaGivesBack campaign is now over, and it is with great pride that we will donate the impressive amount of $5,545 to Breakfast Club of Canada on behalf of Nordia. This contribution will allow the Club to provide more than 1,800 nutritious and varied breakfasts to children in all the communities where we operate.

A big thank you to all Nordia employees, from coast to coast, for this great show of solidarity. You continue to demonstrate that Nordia employees are committed to getting involved and giving back to their communities!

Day 4 - A healthy dessert? Yes, it exists!

It's the return of our guest chef Lindsay who will cook a cherry clafoutis for us today! Click on the video below to make this recipe yourself! You will also find all the steps to make your own cherry clafoutis.

Happy cooking!

Day3 - Let's talk about mental health.

The pandemic is a particular and unusual reality that we were not prepared to live with over a long period. This situation has affected us all differently, physically, psychologically and socially. It is, therefore, normal to experience specific imbalances in different areas of our lives. In this context, managing our thoughts and emotions becomes more difficult.

Therefore, we have asked Yasmine Sikender, Certified Clinical Social Worker and partner in Nordia's Employee Assistance Program (EAP), to give us some tips and tricks to better manage our emotions and those of our loved ones. You will also find a small guide to the resources available in your area!

Happy viewing!

Day 2- To your pots and pans, Nordia's apprentice chefs!

For the second day of our theme week, we decided to put healthy eating habits in the spotlight by offering you a recipe for a healthy lunch that's quick, well done, and above all, very tasty. Eating healthy doesn't mean tasteless!

Because we wanted to do things the right way, we worked with guest chef Lindsay Brun, winner of the Canadian version of "Wall of Chefs." You will be able to create the recipe with her, with this tutorial's help and thanks to a recipe card designed especially for the Nordia team! Don't hesitate to take pictures of your creations!

Day 1 - Are you ready to take on the Nordia Moves Challenge?

This week, move for at least 30 minutes a day for a chance to win one of the mystery prizes. To be eligible for the draw, post a photo or short video of yourself moving and a brief explanation of what you did on the Nordia Moves Facebook event page.

We're kicking off the week and the challenge on the right foot by offering you a 30-minute workout with Natasha from Newbodymoves. This video was made exclusively for you, #TeamNordia: we want to see you move in large numbers!

Are you ready to take on the "Nordia Moves" challenge?

From April 5 to 9, it's Nordia's Wellness Week! We have put together a whole week of activities for you: the "Nordia Moves" Challenge, cooking workshops and a questions and answers session on the pandemic's impact on our mental health.

With the pandemic still going on, it is more important than ever to take care of ourselves and think about our health! And why not do it together to motivate ourselves?

Happy Wellness Week, Nordia!
